If you’ve decided to sell your jewellery and want to achieve strong prices in the international marketplace, bring your item or collection to Dupuis. Our regularly scheduled auctions attract competitive bids from Europe, Asia, and North America.
The first step is to arrange a consultation with our experienced specialists who examine your jewels. Factors considered in the evaluation include the quality of gems, materials, craftsmanship, period, and maker.
Our specialists can meet with you at our Toronto offices or in cities across Canada during one of our frequent valuation events. To arrange a confidential appointment, with no charge or obligation, please call 416-968-7500 or toll-free 1-800-879-8975.
In certain situations, we can provide an evaluation in the security of your home, office, or bank. We want to ensure you’re able to sell your jewellery in the safest manner possible. We can also organize secure transport for your valuable jewels.
After examining your jewels, we suggest a pre-auction estimate. Along with this estimate, we agree on a minimum price for your items. Typically, we suggest a “reserve” that preserves your financial interest while assuring a high probability of a sale. Should bidding fail to reach the reserve price, an item may be re-offered in the next auction or returned to you.
We reach local and international buyers through many channels, including media advertising, publicity events, mailings to our extensive client base, social media, and our website. Before the auction, we also hold a public exhibition well attended by prospective buyers.
Upon consignment, you’ll receive an itemized property receipt and agreement. Then, about three weeks before the auction, you’ll receive a letter indicating the lot numbers corresponding to your items.
You can access the auction in real-time online through our website. We preregister prospective bidders to compete for lots they hope to acquire. To increase the confidence of potential buyers, we provide detailed condition reports to supplement the cataloguing and photography.
We send you a listing of your sale results, which also indicates any unsold items. We follow up with a payment to you 35 days after the auction, including a statement of the selling price, and our agreed-upon deductions for commission and other expenses.
